We are delighted to present next Wednesday, 29th July, as part of our AHSS Virtual Learning Community Programme (#AHSSheart),  invited guest speaker, Charlotte Doesburg, to talk on the subject of:

‘Creating Worlds, Love Stories and Enigmas : Similarities and Differences in the Finnish epic, the Kalevala, and the works of J.R.R. Tolkien’

Charlotte, 4th year PhD student at UCL, will help us dive into some of the material that inspired Tolkien and can improve our understanding of the fantasy world he created, and that is enjoyed by millions of people all over the world, in his books (and now also in blockbuster films). The lecture and Q&A will be hosted by Dr Koenraad Claes, Lecturer of English Literature, from our School of Humanities & Social Sciences.
Please keenly advertise this to your students, whether English Lit, Creative Writing, or any other subject, as Tolkien is definitely a crowd pleaser!
Do also join us, yourself, whether after work, or as a cultural activity whilst on annual leave. Grab a glass of something, log on, sit back and enjoy!
