COVID-19 has caused severe disruptions for public services including the criminal justice system. In this online lecture, Benoit Guerin, from the Institute for Government, will discuss how well prepared the criminal justice system was for dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. As well as discussing how prepared the police, criminal courts and prisons were for the pandemic, Benoit will discuss the opportunities and challenges they faced prior to it, such as managing the impact of an increase in the number of police officers. He will also share lessons the criminal justice system can learn to improve future crisis response.
