Book Launch ‘The Ahuman Manifesto’

Mini-symposium on Posthuman Futures: Transmedia, Weird Science, Furry Flesh

This special panel seminar brings together 3 speakers in posthuman ethical philosophy. Our special guest speaker is Professor Lisa Blackman (Goldsmiths), author of Immaterial Bodies (Sage 2012) and The Body: Key Concepts (Berg 2008). Drawing from radical philosophies of science, feminist science studies, queer theory, cultural studies, and the field of affect studies Blackman asks how philosophers and scientists might engage creatively and critically with science within the context of digital communication and haunted data. Our second speaker will be Dr Jessica Ruth Austin, who recently received her PhD at ARU and will be speaking on the ethics of data collection in furries, fandoms and other trans-species posthuman identities.

The panel will be introduced and moderated by Patricia MacCormack, Professor of Continental Philosophy, AHSS who will also be launching her new book The Ahuman Manifesto (Bloomsbury 2020).
